Performing Artist in Residence
Part time (24 hours per week), TERM TIME ONLY
FIXED TERM until 8th July 2026
Start date – 1 September 2025
Support Staff Grade 3 - £26,443 to £29,896 pro rata

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside our vibrant and ambitious Music and Drama departments at Norwich High School. Whilst experience as a performing musician would be desirable, this is not a pre-requisite for the post. We are seeking someone who is creative, hard-working and well-organised and who is able to work independently as well as part of a team. Initiative and motivation are essential qualities.

The post-holder will be responsible for setting up music/drama lessons and rehearsals, assisting with the music library and cataloguing of music, helping at concerts, recitals and school performances (which often fall out of hours), monitoring, moving and setting up musical equipment including leads, stands, drum kits, amplifiers, recording equipment etc., liaising with Visiting Music Teachers, keeping records of instrumental timetables and ensemble registers and assisting the Drama Department in rehearsals, productions and performances as required.

This is a part-time position (24 hours per week), working during school term time only, plus 10 days during the school holidays. It is fixed term, until 8th July 2026. The salary is Grade 3 on the GDST regional scale.

As a Girls’ Day School Trust school, Norwich High School benefits from being part of the largest group of independent girls’ schools in the UK, giving us unrivalled opportunities for training, collaboration and sharing of good practice in teaching and learning. We can offer a variety of benefits, including:

  • Access to extensive professional development opportunities
  • A generous pension scheme (with up to 12% employer contributions)
  • Free life assurance benefit
  • Onsite parking
  • Free lunch during term time
  • Access to the Fitness Suite and Swimming Pool subject to availability and induction
  • Access to our free Employee Assistance programme
  • Competitive terms and conditions of employment

Full details of the post may be obtained from the Norwich High website.

A letter of application addressed to the DFO should be included with your application form. Please note that CVs without a completed school application form cannot be considered.
